tms 2025

We are excited to announce our participation in the TMS 2025 Annual Meeting & Exhibition, taking place from March 23 to March 27, 2025, at the MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. You can find us at Booth 521 throughout the event.

Why Visit AMAZEMET at TMS 2025?

This is an excellent opportunity to explore the latest advancements in ultrasonic atomization technology and its applications in producing high-quality metal powders and innovative materials. Our experts will be on hand to showcase AMAZEMET’s cutting-edge solutions, like Powder2Powder – ultrasonic re-atomization device, and answer any questions you may have. At Booth 521, visitors will have the chance to discover how our innovative technologies can elevate research and production processes. Our team of experts will be available to discuss your specific needs, challenges, and potential areas of collaboration. You can also learn about our custom powder production and alloy development services.

Don’t Miss Our Presentations at TMS 2025

Our team will also be contributing to the technical program with two exciting presentations that highlight the versatility and innovation of ultrasonic atomization.

1. Ultrasonic Atomization for Spherical Powder Production of Reactive Materials

  • Date: March 26, 2025
  • Time: 5:00 PM – 5:20 PM
  • Location: MGM Grand – 105
  • Track Type: Materials Synthesis and Processig
  • Speaker: Tomasz Choma

Abstract: Creating reactive, spherical powder materials with standard gas atomization methods poses challenges due to the interaction of reactive melts with crucibles. Crucible-free processes like plasma atomization or electrode induction melting inert gas atomization require specific feedstock forms, limiting material diversity. The large scale of these processes also necessitates handling larger powder batches, increasing risks. This presentation will introduce ultrasonic atomization as a versatile solution for processing various reactive materials in smaller, more manageable quantities. We will present induction melting techniques for Mg and Mg-Li alloys, processing pure gadolinium for magnetic applications using a plasma system, and zirconium atomization for nuclear research, demonstrating innovative approaches and broad applicability.

2. High-performance Powders via Powder2Powder Ultrasonic Atomization

  • Date: March 26, 2025
  • Time: 4:10 PM – 4:30 PM
  • Location: Room – 108
  • Track Type: Light Metals
  • Speaker: Łukasz Żrodowski, PhD

Abstract: Current methods for the production of spherical powders restrict the development of custom particles with tailored chemical compositions. This challenge is even greater when the input material is already a powder. The proposed Powder2Powder ultrasonic atomization process based on plasma melting allows to change the particle size, morphology and form an alloy in-situ. During processing the liquid, in contact with a surface vibrating at ultrasonic frequencies, forms standing capillary waves that lead to the ejection of fine droplets. As the amplitude of these waves increases, the wave crests can reach a critical height where the cohesive forces of the liquid are overcome by the surface tension. The material in the form of powder was used to prepare custom alloy from the powder blend which was melted in the plasma stream and atomized from the sonotrode. Additional case studies will be presented using other out-of-spec additive manufacturing feedstocks.
